Join us on Sat 1st June for the World Quizzing Championships        3/May/2019

It's time to take on the world! Or more precisely over 3,000 quizzers around the world taking part in the World Quizzing Championships, all competing for the title of 'best quizzer in the world'.

It's an individual written quiz, so you don't need to bring a team. But there will be a fun team quiz afterwards to wind down, with teams made up on the day and seeded based on the WQC scores.

If you plan on attending, please indicate this on the Facebook event page, or email, just so we know to print you a paper.

Ireland finish second at the Celtic Nations Quizzing Championships     2/May/2019

Well, we gave it our best shot but it wasn't to be. Ireland finished 2nd to home team Scotland at last weekend's Celtic Nations Quizzing Championships in Edinburgh. See the photos.

A big thank you to our gracious hosts, the Association of Scottish Quizzers, for a smoothly run event. And thanks also to both the Scottish and Welsh squads for competing in a spirit of fairness and friendship.

See you all in Ireland next year!

Irish Interprovincial Quiz Championships announced       4/Mar/2019

We're excited to be running a brand new event - our inaugural Irish Interprovincial Quiz Championships... Ulster vs Connacht vs Munster vs Leinster in a 4-way quiz showdown!

Since this is our first interprovincials, it will be somewhat of a trial run, and we are keeping it small. It's a team event with 4 teams of about 4 players each, but we hope to expand this for subsequent editions, and to host the quiz in a different province each time.

Connacht has the honour of hosting this inaugural edition - more specifically, Claremorris, Co. Mayo on Sunday 31st March, from roughly 11.30am to 4.30pm (exact schedule to be announced).

Entrants can compete for the province of their birth, the province where they live, or any province that they have a connection to. Places are very limited so where a team is over-subscribed we will use the official Irish quiz rankings ( as of the end of 2018 to decide who makes the cut.

If you are interested in taking part, please:

* email on or before TUESDAY 12th MARCH

* indicating which PROVINCE or PROVINCES you are happy to compete for, and in which order of preference

Squizzed quiz now feeding into monthly rankings     11/Jan/2019

Squizzed has been added as an IQO ranking event!

At the last AGM we agreed to start using the monthly Squizzed quiz -  - as a qualifying event for the Irish rankings, once we'd done some analysis to check that the difficulty level and consistency of Squizzed is similar to the Hot 100. This has been checked and found to be consistent.

So from the 2019 #1 edition onwards, Squizzed scores will be included in the rankings.

If you're interested in sitting this quiz wherever you are, see the original announcement for details of how to take part, and watch out for IQO-organised venues announced on our website & social media.

For Dublin people, the next edition will be on Tue 29th January.

John O'Sullivan RIP     19/Sep/2018

It is with great sadness that the IQO announces the sudden death of our quizzing colleague John O'Sullivan. John was a dedicated member of the IQO committee from the organisation's founding in 2012 to the present day, and made many valuable contributions to the IQO's work.

The IQO extends its sincere sympathies to John’s family and many friends, particularly his son Colm who is a former IQO committee member.
